Mr. Abhay Tandon describes his GMP experiences and how the programme made a world of difference in his professional career...
Mr. Abhay Tandon had already gained three years of experience working with big names, including Accenture, in the technology industry when he decided to do his GMP at SPJIMR. The Post-Graduate Certificate in Global Management programme at SPJIMR is a unique and renowned programme that offers students an opportunity to get an MBA from one of four reputable foreign universities after studying for a year in Mumbai. Mr. Tandon embraced this opportunity with both hands, and this has led to great success in his career, evident in his current position as the Growth Solution Manager with Scaale Inc.
If you ask Mr. Tandon the reasons why he entered a programme like GMP after gathering substantial work experience, his answer is straight and to the point: “After my experience in various technologies across multiple projects, I realised that I had missed out on validated business practices.
Aravind Suresh thrives as a professional in Germany, believes the GMP programme created the opportunities...
“I would like to thank SPJIMR for opening international doors for me. All I had to do was take a calculated risk and walk in. I believe it has added a lot more value to me than a regular two-year MBA programme in India.” That’s SPJIMR alumnus Aravind Suresh talking about the GMP programme offered by the institute. The nature of the programme lets students spend 6-8 months in Mumbai gaining general management training before heading to one of the four reputed Business schools in Europe to complete their MBA. ESB Business School of Reutlingen University where Aravind completed his programme is one of them.
The programme has already created waves, especially since it’s recognised and was initially funded by the European Commission. The programme seemed like the right fit for Aravind’s career aspirations post his 4 year professional journey. “Doing my MBA was always the goal but I didn’t want to do it right after my BBA. That’s why I worked as Client Support Specialist (Indirect Tax) at Ernst & Young before joining The Fuller Life as a Client Manager. Leaving well-paid jobs wasn’t easy but I was clear about my goals,” he says.
Naveen Prasad reveals how his GMP at SPJIMR led to a flourishing career in France with Amazon
“Distractions are alluring and can show you a fast way to success. But I believe there is no easy road to success; you have to be focussed and find your way to it.” These are the wise words of Naveen Prasad, who embarked on a career path many years ago and then followed it with the GMP
Naveen started as a Product Engineer with Huawei, where he worked for two years before moving on to Oracle for a short stint. During his early years as a professional he was commended for his leadership qualities, which is something
"Follow your dreams, and achievements will follow you."
This is the motto that I live by, and it has led me all the way from being a Biotech student in Noida to becoming a Regional Business Line Manager at Crane Co., one of the top Industrial manufacturing companies in its field, globally, founded in 1855.
How did I make it all happen? Simple- set goals, focus and work hard towards achieving them and keep repeating this process. This is what life is all about. When I started my academic journey after schooling at DPS, the top echelons of international business had already started making marks on my mind. I obtained a B.Tech degree in Biotech from Amity University, but I always knew research and development wasn't my cup of tea. I always wanted to work in industry, so there began my professional journey with Accenture Service Pvt. Ltd in Bangalore and then moving on with Keane India, now NTT Data. In both the jobs I worked for overseas clients and multi-cultural teams, something which I still look forward to when looking at different companies. It was then that I realized that exploring new places and meeting new people was something I really liked.
“To be a winner in the long-run, you must have a strong foundation. Learn as much as you can in the early years of your career and always have a strong support system behind you to enable you to learn, grow and flourish in life!” To ensure I had a strong foundation in my chosen path, I did a lot of online research, talked to friends and colleagues, and finally chose the PGCIM programme (now called GMP) at SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai with collaboration with ESB Business School, Reutlingen, Germany.
